SANTIAGO AIRPORT UNVEILS NEW “PLAZA CHILE” SHOPPING AREA AT THE INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL

02/04/2024 • The area is located at the center of the building, where passengers spread out to the four boarding areas. It features three Chilean products stores and a café devoted to crepes. • The commercial zone is inspired by the country’s main squares and is equipped with two screens that will display touristic audiovisual material provided by Imagen de Chile Foundation.

“Plaza Chile” is the name of the new shopping zone inaugurated today by Nuevo Pudahuel at the International Terminal of Santiago Airport. The name is related to the national sense of place of the area, inspired by the main squares of the country’s cities. This concept, developed by the Morpho Travel Experience company, aims to promote Chilean creativity through three new stores.

Among them will be Explora, focused on outdoor mountain products, hiking, and adventure sports; Emprende, specialized in textile, jewelry, and beauty products, as well as Family, which offers souvenirs and toys.

Overall, 50 local entrepreneurs specialized in textile creations, goldsmithing, wood, carved stone and souvenirs will be able to display and sell their products there.

The 571 sq m esplanade boasts a café centered on crepes, along with two immersive screens that will display touristic audiovisual material provided by Imagen de Chile Foundation, in partnership with Morpho.

Nicolas Claude, CEO of Nuevo Pudahuel, praised the contribution of Plaza Chile to the local seal that the International Terminal is seeking to imprint. “Its location will provide an unforgettable farewell for those traveling, ensuring that each passenger will bring their memories of Chile home through a souvenir or any of the pictures that will be displayed on these screens. Moreover, this area allows a great market possibility for local craftsmen and women in several countries where international passengers travel to,” he explained.

Adriana Echandi, CEO of Morpho Travel Experience, and Rossana Dresdner, Director of Imagen de Chile Foundation also participated in the inauguration, which also marked the presentation of the CLA platform (Latin American Community) in Chile. This association, promoted by Morpho, already features six Chilean artisans who, through their work, embody the talent of local creators.

“The opening of Plaza Chile reflects our commitment to offer a unique and authentic travel experience, promoting Chilean culture, creativity, and talent. We encourage all passengers to explore these exciting retail spaces during their next visit to Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport,” said Atilio Derosas, Country Manager of Morpho Travel Experience.

Morpho Travel Experience manages 20 stores at Santiago Airport: 14 retail stores through the brands Britt Shop, Plaza Chile, Rumbo Sur, Travel Market, Casa Chile, Jewelry Me, Sala del Sol and Emprende 56. It also operates 6 F&B stores under the brands Britt Café & Bakery, California Pizza Kitchen, Bartolomé, Toro, and Crepas y Café.
