Wolcome to Nuevo Pudahuel airport

World Environment Day

What is World Environment Day?

World Environment Day, established by the United Nations (UN) in its resolution of 15 December 1972, is celebrated on the 5th of June each year at the Arturo Merino Benítez airport.

Since Nuevo Pudahuel took control of the Santiago International Airport, it has become a day to celebrate our environmental initiatives with our passengers and share them with the local community.

Did you know?

Since Nuevo Pudahuel took control of the Arturo Merino Benítez airport in 2015, we have introduced several pioneering environmental initiatives at the country's most important gateway, thereby reinforcing our commitment to the community.

These include, the first recycling program at Santiago airport, that began in April 2017 with a waste separation plan that applies to the various airport areas we operate, such as the passenger terminal, cargo terminals and apron service areas. But that's not all...

New Pudahuel is committed to reducing the airport's carbon footprint

Chile does not have a regulation that obliges companies to measure their carbon footprint, however, each firm is free to do so to improve sustainability and implement measures to optimize their impact on the environment. At Nuevo Pudahuel we believe that our commitment to the environment is an integral part of our vision to become a civic center.

Nuevo Pudahuel quantifies the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions produced directly or indirectly by airport activities. Thanks to this measurement, at the end of 2017 we were certified with level 1, "Mapping," of the Airport Carbon Accreditation, ACA, an international program launched by Airports Council International, becoming one of the 14 airports certified with this level in Latin America and the Caribbean

. Additionally, we have been certified with "Huella Chile," an initiative of the Ministry of Environment with similar characteristics to ACA, which seeks to promote the quantification of GHG in companies operating in the country. By 2020 we will achieve level 2 "Reduction", which will celebrate the effective reduction of greenhouse gas emissions at the Arturo merino Benítez airport
