Nuevo Pudahuel inaugurates free and unlimited WiFi service at the airport
28/04/2016 Nuevo Pudahuel gave the green light to one of the most awaited services by airport users: free WiFi access. It will provide a connection with universal, unlimited access, with reconnection every 30 minutes available throughout the air terminal.Within the framework of achieving a standard that reflects the users of Santiago's airport, the Nuevo Pudahuel consortium launched their wifi service. The network service, contracted with NoWire, will have a data transfer of 1Mbps per user, which can be reduced to 512 Kbps at peak times, thus ensuring a quality service permitting web surfing without issues. Passengers who need broadband internet to download large files or a higher speed link will be given the possibility of using a premium service at an associated cost in the future.
In a ceremony led by the Minister of Public Works, Alberto Undurraga, the General Manager of Nuevo Pudahuel, Nicolas Claude, stressed that "a terminal must be a substantive part of the trip, the Minister made this service a requirement, and that is why the terminal must be more than a through-route. It is about making it a relevant stage in the travel experience. All the services that we have implemented and those that we will continue to publicisee are designed with that in mind, how to make the new airport a true civic centre.”
In this context, Claude also announced the launch of two other services: the Nuevo Pudahuel app and the possibility of accessing a digital book service with Chilean authors. The first is an innovative initiative in Chile that not only seeks to deliver flight information in an easy and quick fashion through push notifications chosen by each user, but they have also installed beacons, a series of small hardware equipment that identifies the user's position and sends them exclusive discounts in the stores of their choice, that can be selected beforehand in the app settings. In addition, the new wifi available will also serve to link with another service that Nuevo Pudahuel has thought up especially to accompany the waiting hours at the airport and in turn, support the dissemination of national literature. To this end, it has set up a digital book service, through which it will be possible to access 10 books by Chilean authors free of charge and there will also be the option of acquiring other titles through the portal www.bajalibros.com/cl/nuevopudahuel, buying with the PIN "NUEVOPUDAHUEL".
